Coastal Profiles: Introduction

Images are below click here

My interest in wild and empty places began with family trips to the beach, then tramping trips since I was 13. My primary objective as an artist is to express the feelings experienced, passing through these often inhospitable places. The process of painting as a way of returning the land to itself, rather than to see it as a commodity for human exploitation, an ultimate homage to the wilderness. Merging of land and sky expresses the often fluid and changeable nature of these places. The panoramic format conveys the sense of a journey revisited in the mind evoking memories and feelings.
